Antioch Restarts Sept. 11th!

Hello,
We hope you are having an excellent summer. Our Antioch course on Pauline Epistles begins Monday September 11 at 6:30 in the same room (130). While we really hope everyone is planning to return, we understand that life changes and you may be unable to continue. If you can not come back in the fall please let us know ahead of time as we need to order materials.

Some of you have already been meeting with mentors and practicum leaders and working on your development plans. A basic note on what you and your mentor should discuss is attached in this email but please ask us any questions you may have! If you have not set up a time to meet, please do so soon!

Looking forward to seeing you all again,

Andrew and Jared

Hi, Folks,

This is our last week of the Acts course. Let's finish well by doing the project and coming to class on Monday. There is a Project Guide section to give you an example of the project and please let us know if you have questions or need help.

Also, I think we should do a little potluck Monday. If you can reply with something you can bring we can have dinner together! We'll also discuss some things for the summer so please do your best to make it.

For this week's reading, you'll want to focus primarily on Article I but you also may have enough of a body of thought and work at this point to do the project using what you've learned already.

God Bless,
Andrew

Missions MOU's

Hi, Cohort,

I realized that I forgot to upload the missionary memoranda of understanding listed as supplementary reading for tonight. Sorry about that. It's in the folder now if you don't have your hard copy already.

We'll look at them in class tonight. Thanks!

Homework for April 17

Hi All,

Just as a friendly reminder, this week's homework would be an excellent assignment to be a little creative and not limit yourself to writing a 2 page paper. This is completely optional,  but maybe consider a flow chart, bullet points, a comparison chart, diagram or paper mache (kidding). Basically just wanted to make sure you all know that there are options to how to present the homework. Have fun with it :)

See you all Monday!

This week's homework

Hi, All,

I will address this more thoroughly on Monday night, but I realise some of you are struggling a bit with the homework.

Let me say in general that the point of the program is not to do work for work's sake, nor to check all the boxes saying you've read each and every article or done all the writing assignments.

Specifically for this week, you don't necessarily need to read article K. In terms of the projects, if you have questions about what they are asking, please let me know so I can help you. Part of the process of reading and writing before we come for our discussion is for you to have taken time to think about and wrestle with the issues (even if you don't have everything figured out) so that you can more thoroughly be part of the discussion.

I want to commit myself to being a week ahead so I can send you off Monday with any particular instructions or things to think about for the following week.

I'm confident we will together learn how best to approach the process and improve it for future students.

Thank you for your commitment and excellent participation!
Andrew

This week's homework

Hi, everyone,

I realise this week's article is really long. I don't think you need to pay particular attention the pages after 109. If you have time, they do provide an overview of the relationship between the text in Acts and in the letters to these churches, but I don't think they are particularly helpful in identifying the key events in the early expansion of the church.

It is also a more scholarly article so don't get bogged down in details; look for clues to finding Luke's intent in the way he crafts the narrative of Acts.

As you put together your annotated list and read through the first part of the article watch for any patterns or themes that begin to emerge.

If you have questions please ask but also refer to the example annotated list on page 31-35 of the binder.

Hi, everyone,
I hope you had a good two weeks off and were able to work on Development Plans and Acts week one work. By way of reminder, please look at your Acts syllabus and do the first week's reading and response. Upload your response to the Drive either directly or through the Knowledge Center at https://sites.google.com/view/antiochsom/home

Go to "Antioch Assignments 2017" then "Weekly Assignments" then "March 2017" then "March 6"

The readings are there for you if you want a PDF and you should drop your work there by Monday at noon.

Please let me know if you have questions!

Fwd: Short video presentation for ATracker - Daily Task and Time Tracking 8.1

Here is an app Charlie has found that could help you keep track of your ministry hours. If anyone compiles their homework hours also that will help improve what we tell students in the future. Remember that you are not required to present an accounting of your hours, this would be for your personal records.

Recap from 2/13 and homework for 3/6

Hi, All,

  • First, congratulations on moving through phase one. We are so glad to be working alongside you this year.
  • Thank you for your feedback for the future and please be thinking of those things as we go so we can always be improving our program.
  • Use the time saved over the next two Mondays to work on your own towards the Personal and Ministry Development Plans.
  • As we move into the Acts course, please read through the entire book of Acts in order to familiarise yourself with the narrative.
  • Please familiarise yourself also with the terms page you were given.

BE ADVISED: there is homework for March 6th! This is outlined on your syllabus. The prompt (essay question) is on page 17 of your Acts binder. This should be a one-to-two page response to the question. If you have questions please let us know. Responses should be uploaded to the March 6th folder in the Weekly Assignments folder. Your name should be included in the paper title.

See you on the 6th!

Hello,
We are excited to see you tonight 6:30-8:30 in Room 130. A picture of the door you should enter through is attached. Just a reminder from a previous email that you will need a Google account for Antioch. It would be best for you to register for that and tell us your Gmail address tonight. It will also be helpful for you to have a digital device on which you can access Google Drive and read documents. We'll discuss this tonight, however.

See you at 6:30!
